Kinder Goes Green

Check out this important change to the Kinder net pots, now made of a biodegradable material.

Text Box: In recent years we have all become increasingly aware of our need to have a responsible attitude to the environment and our effect on it.

For years KinderGarden Plants have reused and recycled its plastic display and delivery materials to minimise environmental impact. However our net pots, have for a long time concerned us. The principle of growing in a unit that can be easily handled and planted without fuss and with minimum root disturbance is one that we firmly believe in. The problem is that at the end of the growing season the net pot remains intact and even when composted for years is still in perfect condition. No longer is this acceptable in this environmentally conscious age.

So the search began to find not just an environmentally friendly alternative but a fully functional replacement that provides all the versatility and durability of a plastic net pot during the growing, selling and planting stages, but at the same time would be fully biodegradable in the compost heap. After much searching we believe we have found that product in the form of our New Rice Husk Net Pot, all the convenience and practicality of plastic but totally biodegradable and from a sustainable source.

This new product is not just "friendly to the environment" it is totally in harmony with it.
Text Box: The rice husk net pot as the name suggests is made from rice husks, the natural waste by-product of commercial rice production. The material is moulded to form a product with a clean robust finish which offers a practical alternative to plastic.

The difference comes at the end of the season when the plant and pot can be disposed of together. All the gardener needs to do is break the pot and place it in the compost bin along with the plant; the pots will biodegrade in 6 to 12 months. Alternatively the net pots can be disposed of with all other green waste via the locally available recycling facilities. No longer will the net pot continue to make itself known long after it has served its useful purpose.

The Rice Husk Net Pot truly delivers the best of both worlds: the clean and practical easy to handle product, required by the modern consumer and at the same time a completely environmentally friendly and responsible product for the modern age.

The Kinder 5cm Rice Husk pot replaces the plastic net pot on all our individual net pot products.
